It’ not hard to keep up with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s house because, well, there’s not much to it!
They may be two of the most extravagant celebrities in Hollywood. However, turns out Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s house is actually minimalist. A though their interior design preferences may come as a shock considering how colorful of a family they are, we can’t argue with their logic.
“Everything in the outside world is so chaotic. I like to come into a place and immediately feel the calmness,” the Kim explained to AD about their monochromatic Calabasas mansions.
The inside of the home, designed with the help of Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt, boast a neutral, mostly beige, cream and gray-color palette, complemented by the sparse furnishing spaced out around the home. And though the mother-of-four described the minimalist masterpiece as “something I have always dreamed of,” people on the internet had a lot to say about Kimye’s unique taste.
“That’s got to be the creepiest house I’ve ever seen… Like horror movie material creepy,” one follower commented. “It looks so cold and uninviting. I would never believe this was home with 4 young children living there,” someone else stated.
However, despite the condemnations for the lack of color in Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s house, the pair noted that the minimalist design is, in fact, kid friendly. Not only because of North’s all-pink bedroom complete with an oversized butterfly headboard—which, according to the internet, is the one room the entire house that doesn’t feel “cold and scary”— but also because their crib has hidden secret playrooms to hide their kid’s colorful toys.
Love it or hate it, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s house was designed with love. “This house may be a case study, but our vision for it was built around our family,” the rapper said.
