The 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off last friday (15) on its first weekend of powerful attractions. After being postponed, the festival has its triumphal return. Recently Kanye West dropped out of performing as Coachella’s headline, and The Weeknd joined Swedish House Mafia to close the third night of the festival. It was a hit with established and newcomers alike shining through.

The first day was marked by Lil Baby, Anitta, Carly Rae Jempsen and of course Harry Styles. Brazilian singer Anitta made her debut and brought to the stage all her Funk music and hits. Snoop Dogg, Saweetie and Diplo participated as her guests. Harry made his already known grandiose performance and had the participation of Shania Twain in a duet of some of the singer’s hits. He remembered that when he was a kid, Shania’s songs played on the radio in his mom’s car. “This lady taught me to sing… and she also taught me that men are trash”, he said. Justin Bieber unexpectedly appeared on stage during the Daniel Cesar concert to sing “Peaches”.

Second day had the first drag queen ever to perform at the festival. Pabllo Vittar made history on one of the festival’s secondary stages. We also had performances of L’Impératrice that played a set to a full crowd. Doja Cat performed one of her best shows of her career and raised the audience. She brought Tyga and Rico Naty to the stage and proved she could be a headliner. Megan Thee Stallion showed a performance with a lot of energy and choreography. Billie Eilish ended the night with her outburst on stage. Light games and a mega production worthy of Coachella.

The third and maybe most awaited day we had Doja Cat, who performed one of her best shows of her career and raised the audience. She brought Tyga and Rico Naty to the stage and proved she could be a headliner. She even sang an unreleased song from her new album of work. The night was crowned with The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia ending the first weekend of shows, in a presentation prepared in record time. Their set was split into two halves with multiple hits. Abel even changed the lyrics of “Party monster” to refer to Anitta in her friday performance at the festival. And it doesn’t stop there, we are just getting started, everyone! Next weekend we will have another round of the shows. Stay tune.
