The Weeknd, Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo are among the artists nominated for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. Check it out:

Next Sunday, May 15, the Billboard Music Awards takes place, the awards honor the hits of the year that dominated the charts around the world. The nominees for the 62 categories were revealed last Friday, April 8.

Among the highlights, The Weeknd leads the list with 17 nominations, including Top R&B Artist, Top Hot 100 Songs and Top R&B Album. Followed by Doja Cat who won 14 categories, including Top R&B Female Artist, Top Viral Song and Top Billboard 200 Album for “Planet Her”. Kanye West, Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Bieber tied with 13 nominations each. Lil Nas X, Drake, BTS and Dua Lipa are also among the nominees.This year, performing on stage will be Megan Thee Stallion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Burna Boy, Latto, Rauw Alejandro, Travis Scott, Becky G, Elle King, Miranda Lambert and Ed Sheeran, who will be performing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, for being in the middle of her “The Mathematics Tour”. Looks like we’re going to have an unforgettable Sunday night. Megan and Latto are still competing in the Top Rap Female Artist category alongside Cardi B. 

The singer, Mary J. Blige, will receive the Icon Award. Blige has 10 BBMA awards on her bookshelf, and will still be performing the greatest hits of her career.“My career has been such an incredible and unexpected journey that has included many turns into avenues I never could have imagined like acting, producing, launching businesses and now even my own music festival,” the Oscar nominee said in a statement last month. “Through it all, I always one way or another gravitate back to my first love, music. To be recognized in this way at this moment, with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards, is an incredible honor and one that I am truly humbled by”, stated to Billboard. 

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards will be held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, at at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. And broadcast live on NBC.
