The 5th season of The Crown won its first trailer last Thursday (20), released by Netflix. The series, which won 21 Emmys, had its cast renewed with Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip.

In Season 5, new episodes will focus on the 1990s, a challenging time for the royal family. Some of the catastrophic events of that decade include Diana and Charles’ divorce and the Windsor Castle fire that destroyed 115 rooms. British media have reported that Buckingham Palace is concerned about how the series will portray King Charles’ (then-prince) affair with Camilla Parker-Boweles, when he was still married to Diana, Princess of Wales. The concern, of course, is with the image of Charles and Camila, now queen consort.

Filming for the next season of the series is already underway. When Queen Elizabeth died, the production even stopped recording, in a show of mourning, but they were later resumed. Season 5 of ‘The Crown’ premieres November 9 on Netflix.
