Shakira reacts to ex-husband’s comments about Latino fans

Colombian singer Shakira has hit back at xenophobic comments from her ex-husband, Gerard Pique. During an interview, the former player reportedly stated that the reason for the hate messages he has been receiving were the origin of the people.

He went so far as to say that most of his ex-wife’s fans are Latin American, and that because of that, they would be sending him bad things. Shakira posted on her Twitter profile an indirect to this speech. “Proud to be Latin American,” in Spanish. In addition, it added emojis from all the countries that make up Latin America.

“My ex is from Latin America. You don’t know what I got to receive on social media from people who are fans of hers. Many barbarities. They don’t care about anything. These are people who don’t have a life,” he said in an interview. Shakira and Pique split in June 2022, and have been controversial ever since. From betrayals on her part, to songs with indirect ones, and war for custody of the children.
