Last Tuesday morning (26), President Joe Biden ordered strikes against Iranian-backed paramilitary groups in response to a drone attack in northern Iraq, which left three US soldiers injured.

One of the soldiers suffered serious injuries, as stated by National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson. The attack was claimed responsibility by the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia and affiliated groups.

The escalation of tensions in the region has been notable since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7. The United States blames Iran, which financed and trained Hamas, for the rise in violence, including attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on ships in the Red Sea.
