It was a small budget movie widely expected to be a flop. Written by Eleanor Bergstein, it was based on her youthful experience as a “dirty dancer” at a family resort. But in 1987, Dirty Dancing became an instant classic and a pop culture phenomenon that still to this day, 30 years later, makes us dance to the rhythm of The Time Of My Life.
The story of anaïve, yet good-intentioned teen on the cups of womanhood who falls in forbidden love with a hunky dance instructor while at Catskills resort, is a classic princess-and-stable-boy situation. Still, it became one of the highest-grossing films of the 80’s, and launched Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey into stardom.
But where are they now? What happened to the rest of the cast?
