Following the news of his return to Movistar, the Colombian informed in an interview with the newspaper Marca that returning was the realization of a dream that seemed far away. “I believed, but I believe even more now that I can do beautiful things and contribute to the team. I want to continue representing the brand with the best values, the values of the brand and Nairo Quintana,” he said.

Due to signs of Tramadol having been found in his latest tests, in which he anticipated competitions, the athlete was accused of having practiced doping and violating one of the rules described in the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) regulations. However, Nairo Quintana did not comply with decisions established at the time regarding the actions.

Even denying the facts and stating that he was considered innocent, the cyclist was released from his former team, Arkéa-Samsic, and disqualified from the 2022 Tour de France by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, leaving him without a team and absent from professional sport for approximately one year.

“It’s like life. There are sad days and others when you are happy. That doesn’t mean there was much more than a one-off problem. I come back because since I left the team I missed them a lot. The feeling was always there. I spent eleven years with the brand, the shirt is in my heart. Today I’m coming back because it’s my home and I feel the mark in my heart”, concluded the cyclist.
