This Monday (27), the Bengals announced that Burrow had surgery to repair the damaged ligament. “Joe Burrow underwent successful surgery on his wrist today. The procedure went as planned and he is expected to make a complete recovery. Joe will return to Cincinnati this week to be with the team and begin the recovery and rehab process”, wrote the team.

Burrow suffered the injury on Week 11, in the game against the Baltimore Ravens, as he left with a torn ligament in his right wrist. Although the team didn’t provide a timeline for his return, he is expected to be back for the 2024 season. Before the surgery on Monday, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor declined speculations on Burrow’s recovery timeline. “I don’t want to put a timeline on it until we get more information after the surgery today”, said Taylor during a news conference.

“One thing he wanted was to continue to be around, be at the games,. I had a good conversation with him last week, and he wanted to be very involved moving forward”, explained Taylor, talking about Burrow supporting the team while he is not able to play.

The NFL is investigating Burrow’s injury, as he was seen wearing a sleeve on his right wrist before the Baltimore game and was not listed on the injury report. The purpose of the investigation is to find out if the Bengals concealed the condition of his wrist, but the NFL has no incentive to find that the team violated the league’s injury reporting policy.
