Speaking after City’s 3-1 win at Everton on Wednesday (27), Guardiola said that they don’t want to rush De Bruyne back. “He’s close but he is fatigued. We have to be careful he’s been injured for three months like an ACL for six months, if you don’t handle the timings well, you get injured again”.

“The injury was serious but he’s training with us. So positive and he’ll be back soon. I’d love him to play the next game or against Huddersfield but what is important is keeping him fit for a long time, not for one game or another”, the manager added.

De Bruyne has missed over four months with a hamstring injury. His last match took place at the beginning of August and, in the same month, he underwent surgery. As for Haaland, he has been sidelined since the match against Aston Villa on December 6.

“Haaland is training a lot, but not with the team yet. He has stress, the bone is healthy but sore. He’s not like Foden, who is small and thin, Erling is huge, so it’s difficult at times. It’s a question of when the pain will go away, I hope it’s in January”, said Guardiola about Haaland.
