Stephanie Carlin takes over as chief operating officer at McLaren

Last Monday (04), through social media and official websites, McLaren announced that Stephanie Carlin will be the company’s new director of business operations for the next season. The American will be reporting directly to Andreas Seidl.

Apparently, the new director will be responsible for developing the team’s processes in Formula 1 with planning for hiring, progression and expansion of new drivers, in addition to being in charge of the F1 Academy, directly linked to Bianca Bustamante’s position.

Stephanie Carlin is known in the automotive industry for promoting changes and developments in the area, as she has been in the profession for 17 years. Having graduated from the University of Nottingham in Political Science, she worked in the marketing area at other companies. In 2011, she took on the position of commercial director at Rodin Carlin.

Ten years later, the American reached the position of team leader at Rodin Carlin, managing new functions, from staff planning to driver and sponsor negotiations. This year, she was invited to take on the position of director in Formula 3 and head of X44 at Extreme E.

“We are pleased to confirm the recruitment of Stephanie Carlin as Director of Commercial Operations for Formula 1. Stephanie will join McLaren in January 2024 from Rodin Carlin, where she was team principal for the F3 and F1 Academy teams, as well as team principal of X44 and Extreme E. Stephanie will report directly to Andrea Stella and will oversee a variety of activities related to F1 operations, as well as our participation in the 2024 F1 Academy season,” the statement said.
