During the 2-2 draw against Valencia on Saturday (2), Bellingham thought he had scored the winning goal six minutes from time. But referee Gil Manzano had whistled the end of regulation time when the cross was delivered.

Bellingham went to complain to Manzano after the final whistle, and the referee noted in the match report that the player had shouted aggressively. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) also said that the midfielder showed “contempt or disregard” towards Manzano.

The midfielder was making his return after three weeks out due to an ankle injury. He was fined 600 euros (£513), while Real was fined 700 euros (£598). They appealed but the RFEF disciplinary committee dismissed their argument that the referee had made an “error”.
