Most young people from Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2010) no longer care about intimate scenes in their favorite films and series. At least that’s what a North American study published by THR indicates.

As a result, research carried out by the University of California showed that 51% of 1,500 respondents want to see more content about platonic relationships and friendships.

Meanwhile, 47.5% said that those lovemaking scenes are “not necessary” for most series and films, 44% felt that romance is “overused” in these productions.

Additionally, 44% of young people surveyed say they agree with a statement that they would “rather do anything” than go on an online date.

Another piece of research data shows that racial stereotypes are strongly rejected by Generation Z.

Thus, the survey also revealed that 56% of them prefer to watch original productions rather than reboots, remakes or franchises.

Namely, the study was published after young Americans started a debate about the excess of intimate scenes content in films — a discussion sparked by the premiere of the film “No Hard Feelings”, in June.
