“I know what the plot of one of the films is. That doesn’t mean it’s the only [film in the new trilogy with Rey], but that’s what I was told. And I imagine it will be the next film,” she said.

As previously revealed, the franchise will gain another trilogy. However, Ridley still doesn’t know if Rey will appear in all three new films. “But yes, so far, I know the story of a film and I think people will be very excited.”

As a result, this will be the first time that Rey will star in a film in the franchise since The Rise of Skywalker, released in 2019.

Additionally, it’s worth remembering that the new film may have received its official title and synopsis. According to the new edition of Production Weekly, the production sheet was titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order. The file also includes the following synopsis:

“Set 15 years after Rey’s victory against Palpatine at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the sequel explores Rey’s courageous endeavor to restore the Jedi Order, where she takes on the role of mentor to two promising young students – a girl and a boy. As her training progresses, it becomes evident that the girl possesses extraordinary abilities, destined to become the future leader.”

Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct the film. Recently, she directed two episodes of Ms. Marvel, a Marvel series on Disney+.

She will be the first woman and the first person of color to direct a Star Wars film.

The new Star Wars focused on Rey should debut on May 22, 2026, according to Disney’s latest announcement about the franchise — still in the midst of the writers’ strike and before the actors’ strike.
