What team? Wildcats! The actor Zac Efron, 34, has revealed that he is willing to participate in a reboot of “High School Musical”. Efron had his career consolidated at age 19, with the lead role in the Disney Channel Original franchise, which premiered in 2006.

“I mean, to have an opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart is still there. That would be incredible. I hope it happens”, said the eternal Troy Bolton in an interview with E! News.

In 2007 and 2008, “High School Musical: 2” and “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” were released to complete the trilogy. In 2016, Hudgens and cast members Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman gathered at a school in Los Angeles to celebrate the film’s tenth anniversary, Zac Efron failed to attend and left fans disappointed.

Disney+ launched in 2019 “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”, set in the same setting, this time theater-loving students decide to mount a production of “High School Musical”. The pop star Olivia Rodrigo gained recognition by performing in the first season as Nini Salazar-Roberts.

There is still nothing confirmed for the reboot. But in the meantime, Efron opens in theaters next Friday, May 13, in “Firestarter,” the new horror movie from Blumhouse Productions, an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel of the same name. In the film he plays for the first time a father, during an appearance on The Ellen Show, the actor confessed to not being ready for this role in real life. “I think that was a healthy dose to put me off of it for as long as necessary. I have a little bit more growing to do, probably. I don’t know. Not yet”. And ended up saying that having a “healthy respect” to all parents.
