Kate Bush, 63, commented on her return to the top of the music charts after Netflix put “Running up the hill” on the soundtrack to one of the episodes of season 4 of “Stranger Things.” The singer gave an interview to the Woman’s Hour show, hosted by Emma Barnett, on BBC Radio 4.
“It’s such a good series, I thought the song would get some attention. But I never imagined it would be something like this. It’s so exciting. But it’s a little shocking, isn’t it? I mean, the whole world went crazy”, Brush told the program broadcast on Wednesday (22).
The song appears in one of the most tense moments of the last season, when Max manages to escape the villain Vecna in the Upside Down, in chapter 4. The 1985 hit has been in the top positions of Spotify’s weekly Global Top for three weeks and appeared on the Billboard Hot 100.
“I think they (the writers) put the music in a very special place. In fact, we’ve watched it since the first season, so I was already familiar with the show. And I thought, ‘What a lovely way for music to be used in such a positive way. ‘ It’s kind of like a talisman for Max. I find it really touching, actually,” the singer said.
Kate Bush also became the oldest female artist to reach number one in the UK. “Gardening is my hobby now,” he told the BBC. Also revealing that he does not have a smartphone and did not know TikTok. The singer’s last studio album was “50 Words for Snow”, in 2011. In 2014, she played 22 shows in London with tickets sold out in 15 minutes.
