The President of the United States, Joe Biden, said on Monday (1st) that he is ready to “fight Maga (Make America Great Again) extremism”. He made the statement in a New Year’s message on X (formerly Twitter).

“Happy New Year, everyone. In 2024, we’re ready to keep delivering for the American people and fight back against MAGA extremism. Let’s finish the job”, he stated.

It is worth remembering that “Make America Great Again” was the slogan of former President Donald Trump’s election campaign in 2016. The phrase had already been used by Republican Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Therefore, in the current scenario, the most likely outcome for the race for the White House in 2024 is a rematch between Biden and Trump.

With this, both parties will have processes to choose their candidates. On January 15th there will be a selection process among Republicans in the state of Iowa.

This year, in addition to the candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties, there is a third candidate who could have some influence on the final result: Robert F. Kennedy, who will be independent (in the USA, a person can run for a political position without belonging to a party ).
