“She’s scared, she’s scared that one day someone will make good on their threats,” Carroll’s attorney, Shawn Crowley, said during statements Tuesday.

With that, Crowley pointed out that Trump’s comments not only “destroyed his sense of security” but also damaged his professional reputation and his writing, and television appearances largely declined.

As a result, Trump attended the trial, which began on Tuesday (16). A jury was also selected to continue analyzing the case.

The businessman’s lawyers also indicated that he plans to testify, although the former president has changed his mind about speaking at other trials.

It is worth remembering that E. Jean Carroll is asking for more than US$10 million (US$49 million) in damages for defamation.

The statements that will be analyzed in this trial were made in June 2019, when Trump was president of the United States.

The jury will have to consider only how much Trump should pay Carroll in damages, not whether the attack happened or whether Trump lied about the case, as the judge ruled that the verdict from the first trial will also carry over to this case.

Additionally, Trump has previously been found guilty of sexually abusing Carroll and defaming her previously.
