The current condition of Michael Schumacher, one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula 1, remains shrouded in mystery. Since the serious skiing accident that occurred in France in 2013, little information has been released by his family. Schumacher was left in a coma due to head trauma and brain injuries, and communication about his condition has been limited, according to the scant updates provided.

The reason for this secrecy was explained by Schumacher’s lawyer, Felix Damm. He stated: “It was always about preserving privacy. We considered whether issuing a definitive report on Michael’s health would be the right approach.” He added that possible press reactions had led the family to rethink their strategy, stating: “But that wouldn’t be the end.

It would be necessary to provide constant updates.” Damm went on to explain that the press could repeatedly request new reports and ask about Michael’s health status even months after previous updates. He concluded: “If we wanted to deal with this in any way, we would have to consider the media’s rights to question a subject we had already covered.”

Roger Benoit, Schumacher’s friend and journalist, also recently commented on the matter. When asked if he had information about the former driver’s condition, he replied: “No. There is only one answer to that question, and his son Mick gave it in 2022, in one of his rare interviews: ‘I would give anything to speak to the father.’ That sentence sums up your father’s situation for the last 3,500 days. It’s a hopeless case.”
