Last Friday (17), at a hearing in Washtenaw County Circuit Court, the University of Michigan and Jim Harbaugh accepted the closure of the lawsuit over the coach’s three-game suspension. The measure was previously applied by the Big Ten Conference.

Given the defeat, the coach will have to withdraw from three more games that will take place until the end of November. As a trade-off, the Big Ten Conference will close its investigation into the sign-stealing scheme and personal observation linked to former university employee Connor Stalions.

“The Conference has agreed to close its investigation and the University and Coach Harbaugh have agreed to accept the three-game suspension. Coach Harbaugh, with the support of the University, decided to accept the sanction to return the focus to our student-athletes and performance on the field,” the Big Ten Conference said in a statement.

Previously, during the investigation, indications emerged that the coach may have been involved in the theft of signs and illegal practices on campus. In light of the accusations, the Big Ten Conference decided to suspend the former athlete’s activities for an indefinite period of time.

Jim Harbaugh commented on the case: “I am not aware of anyone on our team who took or directed this action. I don’t tolerate anyone doing anything illegal or against NCAA rules. Regardless of the program or organization I have led throughout my career, my instructions and awareness of how we scout opponents have always been firmly within the rules.”
