The story involving Mbappé and Real Madrid promises to have new and important chapters at the turn of the year.

++ Guardiola, on Manchester City: “My feeling today is that we will win the Premier League”

This is because, according to information from the newspaper “As”, it is stated this Wednesday (6), that the Spanish club will make a proposal to the French striker on January 1st, when the Frenchman’s contract with PSG enters the last six months, and the player will start be free to negotiate a pre-agreement with any club.

With this, the Madrid sports daily highlights that President Florentino Pérez will call Mbappé’s mother, Fayza Lamari, who also manages the player’s financial arrangements, and make a proposal.

Then, it will give a period of 15 days for a response from the attacker – who will need to give his “yes” for the Merengue club to continue negotiations. “No further doubts or prolonged changes will be accepted”, says “As”.

It is worth remembering that in 2022, the Real Madrid board experienced great disappointment with Mbappé due to a very similar negotiation process.

That year began with the Frenchman’s contract entering its final months with PSG, just like now – and, there, Real Madrid had an agreement in place with the player.

However, Florentino Pérez allowed the agreement to continue only verbally, without a signed pre-contract. Thus, months later, PSG managed to convince Mbappé to sign a new contract offering a considerable salary increase, in addition to other relevant financial bases.

When the lights went out in the mid-2022 transfer window, the Frenchman renewed until 2024, with an option to extend until 2025, and left the Merengue board irritated.

As a result, it was this contract signed in 2022 by Mbappé that became the target of controversy at the beginning of the current season.

Despite having posed with a shirt with the number 2025 when he renewed with PSG, Mbappé did not want to activate the contract extension clause for another year. In other words: the current season could be the player’s last at PSG.
