Graham, expressing support for Winston, stated, “This man is the best teammate I’ve ever had. He loves this city, this game and embodies everything you can ask for in a leader.” Although Winston has faced criticism for a decision he claims the team made, against coach Dennis Allen’s wishes, to score another touchdown against the Falcons after regulation time ended in Sunday’s game, rather than kneel.

“It was an unusual situation, and we are all taking responsibility,” Graham added. “No one imagined it would become so amplified.”

Graham’s tweet ended with a scathing “Also, screw the Falcons.” Jimmy Graham is a true legend, widely respected by his peers, as evidenced by his numerous inclusions on player-voted NFL Top 100 lists. Even at a late stage in his career, his words carry weight. In openly expressing a “screw the Falcons,” Graham was incisive. Most of his teammates, including Winston, appear to support the decision to put pressure on Atlanta. Evidently, there is animosity present. The fact that these teams face each other twice a year suggests that this saga is far from over.
