Fernando Alonso said that Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari could start a title fight in 2025.
Speaking ahead of the launch of the AMR24, Aston Martin car for this season, Alonso talked about the recent news involving Hamilton and his move to Ferrari for the 2025 season. “[During the past few years] Ferrari had a very fast car and were fighting for big things”, said the driver.
“Maybe Lewis can bring that extra to fight for the championship. The car is there”, he added. Alonso also pointed out that Ferrari took more pole positions than Red Bull over the final five races of last season.
“Even last year, with a very dominant Red Bull car, Ferrari were able to match the lap time and be faster than them in most of the qualifyings, so the car should be fast enough”, said the Spaniard.
With Hamilton’s departure in 2025, Alonso has been tipped to take his seat. But the Spaniard has already said that his “first priority” if he stays in Formula 1 after this year would be his Aston Martin team.
