Last weekend, Gigi Hadid used Instagram Stories to express her support for Palestine during the conflict with Israel, in which the country was the target of attacks by the Hamas group.

However, the Israeli government took to social media to criticize the international model. “There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not anti-Semitic, and supporting the Palestinians is not supporting Hamas,” stated Gigi’s post.

The official Government of Israel account shared the post in response, arguing: “Have you been following the news over the last week? Or are you choosing to turn a blind eye to Jewish babies being victims of violence in their homes? Your silence clearly indicates that side you are. We are watching you”, concluded the country.

Gigi Hadid is the daughter of Mohamed Hadid, a real estate tycoon who was born in a Palestinian-occupied region that is now part of the State of Israel.
