Nina Jacobson, the producer of the prequel “The Hunger Games: A Song of Birds and Snakes”, revealed that Jennifer Lawrence will not return to her role in the franchise. The actress played the role of Katniss Everdeen in the first films of the saga.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Jacobson stated that Lawrence’s return to the character depends on the wishes of Suzanne Collins, author of the series’ books. Jacobson stated, “If Suzanne has something to say, she’ll write a book about it”.

“Honestly, as much as I love Katniss, I believe her journey is complete. And I think Suzanne feels the same.” However, the producer didn’t completely close the door on a possible Katniss return, adding, “But if that changes and Suzanne has something to say that involves Katniss, then I would be thrilled.
