In an interview with W Magazine, The Weeknd revealed that he completely forgot to sing due to psychological pressures carried out for the production of his new character Tedros, from the series “The Idol”, produced by HBO. The singer reported that vocal problems caused him to lose his voice.

“Every day, I had to take off my The Weeknd mask, put on the Tedros wig and then go back to being The Weeknd. It was difficult to go from one mindset to another. After that show, I completely lost my voice, nothing came out. It had never happened before ”, said the singer recalling one of his performances last year in Los Angeles.

The protagonist of the series also explained what could have caused his change: “My theory is that I forgot how to sing because I was playing Tedros, a character who doesn’t know how to do that. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but it was terrifying. Like The Weeknd, I’ve never missed a show, I’ve even performed with the flu. But there was something very complicated going on in my head”.

Previously, the HBO series has already been the target of several criticisms due to the construction of the cinematographic work, as internal employees revealed negative behind-the-scenes details, such as general chaos, with several layoffs and even a breach in the budget.
