Last Monday (30), through social media and the official website, the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that it had signed a new sponsorship agreement with Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS brand to produce the league’s official underwear. The partnership was also negotiated with the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the American Basketball Confederation.

Oklahoma City Thunder player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be the first player to star in the partnership between the league and Kardashian’s company. Professional basketball athletes are expected to be the face of the campaign, as was previously done, in the brand’s agreement with other sports categories, with Neymar Jr and Nick Bosa.

“There is no better time to join the league as a partner, and we are excited to work with SKIMS, a brand that has quickly cemented its status as a cultural centerpiece, to elevate each other’s brands and celebrate female athletes and their impact on society ,” said Women’s National Basketball Association Commissioner Cathy Englebert.

Kim Kardashian, owner of the company, also shared her happiness with the partnership: “I am extremely proud of SKIMS’ partnership with the NBA, as it is a reflection of SKIMS’ growing influence on culture. Together, SKIMS and the NBA connect people of all backgrounds through fashion, sport and talent, and I look forward to the partnership thriving.”

Adam Silver, NBA businessman, during the announcement, informed that the partnership could be seen in new events such as NBA All-Star, NBA In-Season Tournament, among others. The SKIMS brand is increasingly establishing itself in the market and gaining importance for selling clothing items that adapt to any body type.
