Last Friday (22), according to journalist Ian Rapoport, from NFL Media, the University of Michigan has sought to formalize a new contract renewal with Jim Harbaugh. The vehicle reports that the college provided the coach with two agreements, one for ten years with a total value of US$125 million.

However, the contract aims to monopolize the coach with one of the clauses reinforcing that Jim Harbaugh will not be able to seek or accept jobs in the National Football League (NFL), especially in the 2024 season. The second offer states that the former athlete could earn US$11 million dollars in a shorter period.

There is speculation that the University of Michigan made both proposals due to surveys by NFL teams such as the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers in front of the coach, however, there were no further details of the teams or even the values offered.

Recently, the University of Michigan received a notice from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for Jim Harbaugh’s actions taken and committed during the dead period during the Covid-19 pandemic. The measures reflect on- and off-campus recruitment, training activities, and potential violations of university codes and standards during the pandemic period.

The NCAA continues to determine whether members of the football team met Jim Harbaugh to practice new practices during the prohibited period. If the information detailed by the Detroit News outlet is proven, the coach, once again, will be penalized for four Level II and one Level I violations.
