Ashton explained that Masterson’s family contacted them, and asked them to produce a letter to the jury telling them about their relationship with the actor. The intention was to write a character letter about the person the two have known for 25 years, so that the judge could take that into consideration and ponder the sentence. Mila stressed that the intent of the letter was not to question the judicial legitimacy of the case, and they regret that it has caused harm to the people in the case.
