‘Beekeeper’ surpasses ‘Mean Girls’ and takes top spot at the box office

Last weekend crowned a new leader at the North American box office. Despite being rated for over 18s, ‘Beekeeper’, a film starring Jason Statham, took the lead with a gross of US$7.42 million and thus dethroned the musical ‘Mean Girls’.

As a result, Statham’s advantage over the teen comedy, however, was approximately US$100,000. In other words, Regina George lost her reign very narrowly.

Already in its seventh week on display, Wonka remained in third place, totaling US$5.9 million.

Now the animation ‘Migration’ has surpassed the romantic comedy ‘Anyone But You’, and now occupies fourth place in the ranking with its US$5.15 million.

Furthermore, the Oscar nominations were especially good for the film, ‘Poor Things’, starring Emma Stone, was no. 7 at the domestic box office with an estimated $3m weekend after 11 Oscar nominations. It’s grossed $24.8m since its Dec. 8 domestic release (and $51.1m globally).
