First it was Twitter with its extended 280 characters. Then came Snapchat with its confusing new layout. Today, it is Instagram’s turn to stab us in the back with its new screenshot alerts.

Why do social media keep trying to fix what ain’t broken?

For the last week, the photo app has been testing a feature that will show users when someone else takes a screenshot of their story. Users included in the test are getting a warning that the next time they take a screenshot of s story, their friend (crush, enemy, idol… call it whatever you want) will be able to see it.

“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram,” the platform said in a statement, acknowledging the alleged test.

But let us ask you a quick question, Insta. How is exposing our creepy ways improving our experience in your app? Uh?

Y’all know what this means. We’re finished. Our stalker days are over. No more creeping over that cute boy who you’re so in love with, but mind you, doesn’t even know you exist. We can no longer screenshot in peace.

Understandably, users are pissed that Instagram will potentially be ratting on us in the near future. So they of course took to Twitter, (a.k.a. the only safe place now) to rant about the possible new feature that is pretty much going to ruin Instagram Stories.
