Coldplay frontman Chris Martin believes that rock music has been done and that fans of the genre won’t ever like his music anyway. The band recently released their seventh album, A Head Full of Dreams, and the expressive singer says the album doesn’t quite fit the parameters of rock.

“We felt like rock music has been done. The future of music is in new sounds and new ways of treating vocals. We wanted to add these colors to our palette,” he told the Daily Telegraph. “I don’t think anyone would throw up the devil horns to any of our major works,” Martin jokingly added.

Martin’s bandmate, bass player Guy Berryman agreed with him, saying “There’s an awful lot of rock music already out there. I’m not sure there is anything left to add.” Whatever the genre, Martin has hinted that their latest album is the last thing they will add to music.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest last month, the singer said: “We’re making an album that we’re really excited about. It feels like the finale of a certain story, the closing chapter of a story.”
