The man who admitted to stealing the nude pics of several A-list celebrities was sentenced to six months in prison on Thursday.
The judge also sentenced Andrew Helton of Astoria, Oregon to another two years of supervised release after his time is served, New York Daily News reports.
In March, Helton pleaded guilty to stealing 161 nude or explicit photos from 13 people. Among these were several unidentified celebrities.
Shortly after his arrest in 2013, the infamous “Fappening” occurred in which the nude photos of several celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton were leaked. Authorities, however, are unclear whether these two incidences were related.
“He targeted strangers, acquaintances, and celebrities alike,” Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie S. Christensen wrote in a filing urging the judge to hand out a harsh sentence.
“He systematically pilfered nude and intimate images of his victims and stored them in his own computer for personal use.”
