Ryan Lochte to join Dancing with the Stars

Disgraced US Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte has gone from dancing around the truth to the cast of Dancing with the Stars in no time.

An insider has revealed that Lochte is set to join the other unannounced dancing celebrities for the 23rd season of the reality TV show, PEOPLE reports.

While US television network ABC is yet to officially announce its new cast, the insider said that Lochte had always wanted to be part of the show.

The 32-year-old swimmer recently lost four major sponsorship deals after he was exposed for fabricating a story about being robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Lochte and his teammates Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen’s story caused major embarrassment to the organizers of an Olympic Games already plagued by numerous high-profile muggings and mishaps in the volatile Brazilian city.

ABC might still decide to pull the plug on Lochte’s participation, but we suspect they might opt against leaving the 12-time Olympic medallist high and dry.

His controversial presence on the show will no doubt boost ratings.
