Longtime couple Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced on Sunday night that they are divorcing after 8 years of marriage.
“Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating,” a post on Pratt’s Facebook page read. “We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another,” the statement continued.
The same exact message, signed with both of their names, was shared on Faris’ Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Pratt, 38, and Faris, 40 met on the set of Take Me Home Tonight in 2007 and got engaged a year later before marrying in summer 2009, in Bali, Indonesia. The couple has once child together, Jack, who will turn 5 later this month.
Just a couple months ago, Pratt shared a message about how much he loved his wife after Faris joined him for the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vo. 2 press tour.
“These press tours can be such a whirlwind,” he wrote. “I’m grateful to have you and the boy with me on this one. Although it’s 3:00 am right now, I was just awakened by a square kick to the back as little man climbed into bed and then must have had a karate dream or something and now I can’t sleep. I’m on insta instead. All you dads and moms know what I’m talking about.”
The couple was last seen together in public in April 21, when Pratt received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. During the ceremony, Anna gave an emotional speech about their relationship.
“This is actually a thank-you speech,” she began. “I’m the beneficiary of all this because I get to spend every day with this wonderful man… I know that if our circumstances were different and we weren’t as fortunate to be standing here and living our Hollywood life, we would be happy in the woods together, I think.”
Ove the past year there had been rumors about tension between the couple, and both Faris and Pratt had been spotted without their wedding rings at events, with Faris noticeably not wearing hers at the L.A. premier of the Emoji Movie, where she voices a role, last month.
Pratt has a Jurassic World sequel set for 2019 in addition to reprising his iconic role as Peter Quill/ Star-Lord in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
As for her, Faris is currently shooting a fifth season of her CBS sitcom, Mom. She also has a weekly podcast, Unqualified, in which she focuses on relationships.
