Remember that day when justice was finally done and Leonardo DiCaprio won his very first Oscar for his performance in The Revenant? Well—it seems like the actor may have won a little something more than just the coveted statuette…
In 2016 Leon and Tom Hardy made a bet: The friends and co-stars of the Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu film wagered a tattoo over whether or not Hardy would be nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film as the despicable John Fitzgerald.
“Tom felt he was not going to get nominated for his role, and Leo felt his performance was so good that, of course, he was going to get a nomination,” a source told US Weekly. “So they made a bet. If Leo was wrong, he would’ve gotten a tattoo. But, Leo turned out to be right.”
As predicted by Leo, Hardy was in fact nominated for Best Supporting Actor. And while he lost the ward to Mark Rylance who won it for his performance in Bridge of Spies, Tom did get an Oscar nod and therefore lost the bet.
“He wrote, in this really s–ty handwriting: ‘Leo knows everything’ Ha!” Tom told Esquire magazine back in 2016. “I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll get it done, but you have to write it properly.’”
So Leo must have improved his lettering skills, because today, although two years later, it has finally been proven that Tom Hardy is a man of his word. In a recently surfaced selfie with a fan, one can read “LEO KNOWS ALL” tattooed on the right biceps of the Venom star—yes, from Leo’s own handwriting.
Now, that’s leaving a permanent in the film industry—quite literally!
