This mission is not over! Nothing is over!
Sylvester Stallone may be 71 years old, but that’s not going to stop him from taking on some new enemies as John Rambo! For the fifth time in 36 years, “Sly” is heading back to the big screen as the grizzly Vietnam vet character that made him famous in the 1980’s.
His Expendables collaborator, movie mogul Avi Lerner, is on board to produce alongside Stallone, who is also writing the script. There’s no word on whether Sylvester will get behind the camera again for this developing sequel, despite directing the last Rambo saga in 2008.
In the fifth, and reportedly last episode of the franchise, when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been minding his own business quietly working on a ranch somewhere, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border to grapple with violent cartel bosses as he seeks to get the girl back and take her home to safety.
Rumors suggest Rambo 5 will be called Rambo: Last Blood, which would be an appropriate title to end the franchise that began with First Blood back in 1982, a worldwide hit that earned more than $125 million and gained cult following.
With action movies like John Wick and Mad Max: Fury Road, will Rambo be able keep up with the genre that he once defined?
