Chris Evans’ days as everyone’s favorite Avenger (sorry, Tony) are behind him and now, the military turned superhero is ready to embark onto his next adventure as a serious lawyer in Apple’s new legal thriller limited series Defending Jacob.
Evans return to the small screen is said to be based on the 2012 best-selling novel by William Landay. The Marvel star will play a lawyer whose 14-year-old son is accused of murder. The casting for Chris’ teenage son has yet to be announced.
Defending Jacob will be written by Mark Bomback, who’s worked over the scripts for the last two Planet of the Apes movies, the second Logan solo outing The Wolverine, the Total Recall remake with Colin Farrell, and Unstoppable, staring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.
This is just the latest series Apple has ordered base on a novel. The company also recently announced an upcoming series based on the best-selling book Are You Sleeping? which will star Octavia Spencer, Aaron Paul and more.
Evans hasn’t held a regular TV role since in 18 years, since he appeared in Opposite Sex, a series of that only lasted 8 episodes before being canceled. However, his career was rocketed into stratosphere with his role as Steve Rogers, which he’s still set to reprise for the seventh time in the yet untitled Avengers 4.
Could Defending Jacob mark a new beginning for Evans?
