Should we expect a Kim and Kanye Take Chicago spin-off?
Kanye West made it clear how he felt about his hometown when he and Kim Kardashian named their offspring after the city. But now, the Chicago-raised rapper is saying he plans to permanently move back to the Wind City.
“I’ve got to let you all know that I’m moving back to Chicago,” said West at Chance the Rapper’s Open Mic event for high schoolers at a public library Monday night. “I’m never leaving again.”
And though the crowd seemed to welcome its prodigal son with open arms—reacting with cheers and a unified cheer of “Kanye! Kanye! Kanye!”— West is well known to make claims that later go unsubstantiated.
Like last week, when the rapper-turned-designer-turned-philosopher said via Twitter he would be teaching classes with the Art Institute and the American Academy of Art. His claims, however, were debunked by both schools.
“We’re flattered that Mr. West would have an interest in teaching emerging artists and designers” the school’s public relations director responded in a statement. “However, Mr. West is not currently teaching at SAIC, and at this time, there are no plans for him to do so.”
Not to mention that Yeezy is married to a diehard Californian girl. So we wouldn’t be so sure that neither Kim nor their three kids, one of whom is ironically named Chicago, will be leaving their Bel Air mansion anytime soon.
Sorry, Chicagoans. But maybe take Kanye’s latest claim with a grain of salt.
