Naomi Watts will star in the Game of Thrones prequel and we’re already wondering how she’ll die.
Well—we didn’t expect to hear about casting for the Game of Thrones prequel for a good while. But give that we won’t be seeing the final season of the show for several more months, perhaps the network felt like the owe us a little something.
According to reports, Naomi Watts will star in the Game of Thrones prequel. Not much is known about her character yet, other that it is being described as a “charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”
George R.R. Martin’s still-untitled prequel will take place 10,000 years before the current hit show. As for the upcoming series’ plot, HBO has teased that it will cause fans to rethink what they already know about the “horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history” and “the true origin of the White Walkers.”
The news of the two-times Oscar nominee casting comes as a surprise given that the original series was initially composed of mostly relative newcomers like Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner. But maybe Naomi’s role will be another Sean Bean case, where she’ll shockingly die 9 episodes into the series.
So, yeah, Naomi Watts will star in the Game of Thrones prequel. But maybe not for long.
