Giving up alcohol for the weekend is hard. Doing it for a month is an odyssey. And stopping for a full year is practically impossible. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the announcement that Anne Hathaway is quitting drinking for almost two decades is making headlines.
During an appearance on The Ellen Show, the actress revealed she made the big decision last October. And it appears that her 2-year-old Jonathan was a big factor on her resolution to go cold turkey for 18 years.
“I’m going to stop drinking while my son is living in my house, just because I don’t totally love the way I do it and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the morning,” Hathaway said.
One experience in particular triggered her decision. She recalled: “I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school, I wasn’t driving, but I was hung over and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one.”
So Anne Hathaway is quitting drinking because of her son and that, to us, is just another reason not to have kids!
