Taylor Swift’s heart has been broken many, many times over the years. And though her heartaches have resulted in multiple hit songs, it is in fact other artist’s music what actually helped the songstress through the difficult days.
Speaking in a recent essay for Elle U.K., the star revealed her small, yet powerful playlist of breakup songs. “I’m convinced that ‘You Learn’ by Alanis Morissette, ‘Out Your Records On’ by Corinne Bailey Rae and ‘Why’ by Annie Lennox have actually healed my heart after bad breakups or let downs,” Swift confessed.
In her essay, Taylor also referenced recent pop hits like Drake’s In My Feelings, or her friend’s Camila Cabello’s Havana as evidence of how music resonates most when it’s personal.
“I love writing songs because I love preserving memories, like putting a picture frame around a feeling you once had. I like to use nostalgia as inspiration when I’m writing songs for the same reason I like to take photographs. I like to be able to remember the extremely good and extremely bad times.”
Her cover with Elle U.K. comes in the midst of speculations about her possible seventh album. Could this rare glimpse into how music impacts her life be yet another clue that Taylor Swift’s heart is ready to sing a few new songs of its own?
