Beyoncé and Adidas are teaming up to run the footwear world. The singer is signing on as a “creative partner” with the company, as per announced earlier this week. Their collaboration will relaunch her Ivy Park brand, along with developing new signatures shoes and apparel.
“This is the partnership of a lifetime for me,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader.”
In 2016, Ivy Park was co-founded with Philip Green, the owner of Topshop. After sexual and racial harassment allegations were made towards Green in October 2019, Beyoncé acquired full ownership of the brand.
Ivy Park is named after Queen B’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter and Parkwood Park in the MacGregor area near Third Ward where she grew up.
The partnership between Beyoncé and Adidas puts the singer in formation with Kanye and Pusha-T, who also have deals with the company. Could she lead the way to release a women’s-version of the mega successful Yeezy line?
