Ah, Valentine’s! A day to celebrate love and romance… right? Wrong. More like a cruel marketing machine to remind you, at least once a year, that some of us are doomed to walk this world all alone—whether by choice (not your choice, but still someone’s choice) or by circumstance.
But being single is not all that bad. It can give you amazing freedom, provide you with an opportunity to hone and polish your own skills and life experience, teach you how to love yourself first, and even save you a crap ton of money.
In fact, being single doesn’t (necessarily) mean that you need to find V-day a depressing occasion. Resist the pressure to hook-up with a loser. Fight the urge to drink your loneliness away. Ignore that bed inviting you to lay down and cry yourself to sleep.
Instead, find ways to treat yourself and feel good about where you are in life. Because the key to enjoying the single life is to celebrate the moment! Fear not, for you can actually be happy as a single on February 14th. Here are some ideas to actually enjoy (or at least survive) Valentine’s Day!
